Art Statement

"Painting is a joyful experience in which the outcome remains a surprise. The intense enjoyment and trust in the process brings discovery and invention as well as occasional disappointment. The paintings are made on paper mounted on canvas or panel using a process of my own invention. The quality of the surface of paper has been a material that has brought me a lifelong delight. Color infuses me with energy and energy informs the work. One painting leads to the next and so on. There is no break. Inspiration comes from day to day experiences and curiosities." - Petula Bloomfield
